Man with magnifying glass

With the end of 2014 fast approaching, I thought now would be a good time to share some of my favourite music finds from the past 12 months.

I’ve been a keen Spotify premium subscriber for the past couple of years; it allows me to search and play a wealth of ad-free music without having to purchase full songs/albums before I can listen, even offline such as in the car, when I’m out running etc. It’s proved great value for money and has really broadened my music library.

I’ve discovered literally hundreds of artists and new albums this year, some of which have been real standouts. Here are 10 of my favourites…

Joris Voorn – Nobody Knows

Joris Voorn - Noboby Knows

Brilliantly creative electronica (one of my favorite genres). I could listen to ‘Ringo’ and ‘Dust’ all day.

Luke Sital-Singh – The Fire Inside

Luke’s a very emotive artist, who obviously writes from somewhere very deep within. Open and honest lyrically, with a unique sound.

Nick Mulvey – First Mind

Love this album – his sound reminds me of artist Ian Brown. Track ‘Cucurucu’ is a rarity, in that it makes me want to dance (takes a lot).

Rudimental - Home

Some brilliant guest vocalists and great performance at Glastonbury this year. Stand-out track for me has to be ‘Powerless’ featuring Becky Hill.

A Boy and His Kite (self titled)

A Boy And His Kite

Stumbled across this album by accident, but couldn’t stop listening. Track ‘Wash Me Clean’ was an everyday listen for a while.
