Where’s the ‘real you’?

Writing, performing and recording music has always been a big part of who I am. Back in 2004 I was fortunate enough to be runner-up in a BBC songwriting competition, resulting in interest from a record label and opportunity to perform a showcase.

This in turn led to a predicament: to work the London circuit as a young hopeful artist or start a family and get a ‘safer job’. I chose the latter (no regrets!) but have always hoped, one day, that I can return and find success as a song-writer.

Found-Sounds 2014

With the end of 2014 fast approaching, I thought now would be a good time to share some of my favourite music finds from the past 12 months.

I’ve been a keen Spotify premium subscriber for the past couple of years; it allows me to search and play a wealth of ad-free music without having to purchase full songs/albums before I can listen, even offline such as in the car, when I’m out running etc. It’s proved great value for money and has really broadened my music library.

I’ve discovered literally hundreds of artists and new albums this year, some of which have been real standouts. Here are 10 of my favourites…
